Cherry Blossoms | Colorado Outdoor Family Photographer

         My favorite time of the year is here — SPRING!!! One of the reasons I love this season so much is because my birthday falls on the first day of spring, and despite the fact that we tend of have some crazy snowstorms in Colorado during this time of year, most importantly this time of year is CHERRY BLOSSOMS SEASON!!!! I’ve always been obsessed with Cherry Blossoms, the pure beauty of them, their delightful scent in the air and the best part is when a gust of wind comes by, it blows down some of the petals, if you’re lucky! For 5 years, I drive around places in Colorado and watch and wait, very impatiently for these beauties to bloom. I drag my kiddos — my muses — along with me as I make sure to capture them both in the blossoms every year. I hunted all weekend long to find the perfect, beautiful hidden gem; this past Monday was no different.

        I picked up the kids from school, took them to swim class, packed up what seemed like a MILLION outfits for my daughter and grabbed my camera bag. Little did I know that I grabbed the wrong bag; I was dying to shoot my kiddos with my 135mm or 200mm, neither of those were in my bag! I did however have my 50mm that doesn’t focus and my 35mm that doesn’t click on my body anymore. frown emoticon I was so upset, I was tempted to go buy a new lens for this occasion. But really, who needs an excuse to buy some fun new glass?? My husband will be happy to hear I didn’t buy anything new but I did have to improvise and push myself out of my box. I’ve freelensed before but never an entire session! The fact that I was able to get some great images of my kids while running amuck, is truly marvelous!! These images this year are some of my most beloved ones to date. To watch how much they have grown and the love they share for their sibling, make my heart swoon every time! I see canvases of these images in the near future!!
