Miss A | Smash Cake Session

         When Miss A’s mother called to book her daughter’s Marti Gras themed Smash Cake, we had every intention of scheduling it around her birthday. Unfortunately, life happened, things got in the way, and the session was delayed; really this shoot happened closer to 18 months, but hey, we still got it done, and that’s all that matters! Either way, any excuse to enjoy cake — and a whole cake at that — works for me!! Miss A had an older brother, I made sure we included him in some pictures. As almost any parent has experienced, siblings don’t always get along, so if you can snap some pictures during the times that they DO get along, then perfect! As the older sibling, it’s your job to protect, look out for, and making your little sibling laugh whenever you can. Big brother was VERY good at his job!! The pride he takes in his role as older brother, the adoration, and the way her made her smile, was priceless and warmed my heart. I was happy to be able to capture some of those moments for mom and dad. Thank goodness it was fall, the leaves were so entertaining.

           After exploring outside, we went back indoors for a little cake! As any person who has eaten a whole cake by themselves will tell you; at first you’re excited. Your eyes light up with enchantment! As you start working your way through the cake, the guilt might start kicking in, as do the thoughts. “Will this go to my thighs? Was this really a good idea? I’m going to have to run an ultra-marathon to work all this off.” By the end, you’re shocked you ate the cake. Little Miss A was the same way by the end of the session. I couldn’t help but laugh at the emotions this little girl went through so fast. It played out perfect for the smash cake session. When you’re done, you’re done! I had so much fun working with this adorable little family and I hope to work with them again!
